What is a Guardian Home?
All Guardian Homes receive the "pick of the litter" chosen by the breeder. Darling and Adored Kennels maintain breeding rights and will pay for all breeding expenses. Darling and Adored Kennels will only pay health tests for breeding purposes, all breeding costs, and spay/neuter after the guardian dog retires. Guardian home will pay for all normal dog cost: food, dishes, toys, preventatives, health insurance, vaccinations, training classes, etc.
We do require a visit to your home or meet up every few months or so to see how the puppy is doing and continue building a relationship with the guardian family and dog. We also ask you to bring puppies to our house a few times before future breeding so they are comfortable with us. It is a great way for us to bond and interact with our guardian dogs.
Male guardian dogs will be ready to start breeding after one year of age. We only need access to him for short vet visits during the day for health tests and breeding. When he retires we will pay for his neuter.
Female Guardian dogs will be ready to breed when they reach 18 months. When she reaches 18 months and starts her heat cycle we will need her for a short visit for 3-4 days for the breeding to take place. 4 weeks later we will take her in for an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy. When the female is with us to raise her puppies the guardian family is allowed to visit the mom and puppies anytime after puppies are 3 weeks old. We never breed female guardian dogs more than 4 times and never after 6 years old. When the female guardian dogs retire we will pay for her spaying.
We would never give a guardian dog away for free. We do require a reservation fee!
